Uber Technologies Inc. has become a regular feature in the news headlines for the past few months. Right from workplace culture issues to wage problems, Uber has seen it all. No company enjoys incurring a loss and same is the case with this ride-hailing giant. It has been striving hard to come up with ways to fill in for the loss of finance as well as reputation which the company has suffered. Negative reports about Uber have been doing the rounds so often that customers along with employees are gradually losing faith. Amongst all these scandals, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has declared that he will step down from his position in the company.

This announcement by the CEO has sparked whispered conversations among people. Apparently, the reason given for stepping down by Kalanick is not being taken well by the public. It is assumed that the excuse is just a disguise to hide his inefficiency as a leader the reason for his resignation. Kalanick claims that he had to give up his post in order to deal with some family issues. This seems slightly difficult to believe as this announcement was followed by the resignation of a board member of the company. This member had passed a sexist remark at the company’s conference.

Kalanick stated that as he lost his mother on 26th May 2017, he needs some time off to grieve her loss.

Uber CEO to reflect on his leadership

Kalanick stated that as he lost his mother on 26th May 2017, he needs some time off to grieve her loss. He further added that in the everyday hectic schedule, he failed to choose between personal and professional turmoil. He was absorbed in the ruckus created by the scandals that he had no time to face his personal turmoil. In fact, he couldn’t even sit down and analyze his leadership about what went wrong. All the decisions he took were for immediate action.

The Uber CEO says that he needs some time off to deal with professional pressure and his personal loss. After the usual meeting of the company held on Tuesday, Kalanick was unsure about what he wanted to do. The board had briefly discussed his leave in a meeting which triggered this idea. His absence is said to be temporary but uncertain. Even after he returns, he will not take up all the responsibilities but only some of them. The company is doing everything it can to make sure that its past mistakes are never repeated again. This awakening took place because the ride-hailing giant had to pay a heavy price for it.
