, Russian Scientist Drill into 14 Million Year Old Antarctic Lake
After 20 years of drilling effort, the Russian scientists have drilled into the vast, dark and never-before-touched Lake Vostok 2.2 miles below the surface of Antarctica. The Russian scientists have, in fact, drilled down through four kilometers of Antarctic ice to Lake Vostok, apparently the largest sub-glacial lake in Antarctica.
