The 2022 Porsche Macan is practical, comfortable and well-equipped.
If you’re after an SUV that delivers plenty of space, comfort and technology, then the Porsche Macan 2022 won’t disappoint. Here is an in-depth Porsche Macan review to help you decide if it is reliable and worth your investment.
Since Porsche entered the SUV market with the mid-sized Cayenne, customers have always wanted a more spacious version. The all-new Porsche Macan 2022 offers exactly that while keeping the sporting ethos of the brand intact. The new Macan 2022 is a powerful car that provides more space for people and cargo than a sports car.
Our Porsche Macan review found the car to strike a great balance between power and practicality. The standard model comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, but you can upgrade to a V-6 engine in the higher models.

Handling has never been an issue with Porsche cars, and the new Macan does not disappoint at all. It offers a smooth ride that packs in an occasional punch if you need it. It stands out among the competition as it puts driver satisfaction front and center rather than reveling in luxury like the BMW X3. While the BMW is much more luxurious, the Porsche Macan 2022 is more fun to drive. It is gaining on us and is quickly becoming one of our favorite crossovers.
Porsche has made several changes in the overall look and feels for the 2023 iteration of the new Macan. The adaptive suspension technology and the Porsche Sports Chrono package are first and foremost.
We found the 261 hp engine very capable during our Porsche Macan review. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine packs a punch that keeps you interested as a driver. The all-wheel-drive makes the ride smooth no matter the terrain.
If you are interested in the more powerful version, the V-6 engine in the higher model provides a significant bump in Porsche Macan’s performance.
Taking center stage in the new model’s interior is a giant 10.9-inch touchscreen entertainment system. We also loved the 10-speaker sound system in our Porsche Macan review. If you are ready to spend a little more, you can customize the interior with heated seats, adaptive LED headlights, and an awesome 14-speaker system.
The more powerful V-6 version of the car can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. While it might not be needed for an SUV, as a driver, you will appreciate the punchiness of the engine. While quickness is an essential feature in any crossover, it is not the be-all and end-all of a practical SUV. Unlike a car that is just made for raw power, our Porsche Macan review found the vehicle to wonderfully tread the line between power and practicality. The car is very smooth to handle and very stable on the road. The steering is also tactile and soft; though not as light as a sports car, we will take what we can get.
The base model with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offers a decent mileage of 19 miles per gallon in city conditions and 25 miles per gallon on highways. On the other hand, the more powerful S and GTS versions post slightly lower numbers-17mpg in the city and 22mpg on highways.
If comfort and luxury are what you are looking for, then the new Porsche Macan 2022 won’t disappoint you. The interior of the Porsche Maca coupé is luxurious- what you expect from Porsche. However, if you want the dash and doors covered in handcrafted leather, you will have to fork out an additional $2230.
We were disappointed with the cargo hold, though. If you are looking for an SUV with a lot of storage space, then the new Macan 2022 is not an ideal candidate. It has one of the smallest storage capacities in this segment.
With a base price of $81,250 and a fully decked-out version costing a cool $104,410, the Macan is one of the more expensive options in the luxury SUV segment.
