HTC Launches Four New Desire Smartphones In The United States

2000px-Htc_new_logo.svgTaiwan-based device manufacturer HTC announced that they are launching a number of devices in their Desire smartphone line across United States mobile carriers.

The new members of the Desire lineup include HTC Desire 626s and Desire 626, as well as the HTC Desire 526 and Desire 520, all made out of plastic and come in different color combinations. The main difference between the devices is the screen size and internal storage. The whole series also comes with an 8-megapixel main camera capable of recording 720p video. All phones feature 2,000mAh batteries.

HTC Desire 626s, 626

The HTC Desire 626s and Desire 626 both feature a 5-inch HD720P (1280×720) display and similar physical dimensions: 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.19 mm. In terms of RAM, Desire 626s sports 1GB RAM with only 8GB of storage and Desire 626 has a slight increase to 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The two phones feature the Snapdragon 210 system chip inside them with a quad-core CPU with four Cortex A7 cores running at up to 1.1GHz. This configuration powers Android 5.1 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7, and the skin brings extensive customization options including HTC Themes, BlinkFeed, and Sense Home. They are available in various color options: Gray Lava, Marshmallow White, Marine White, Blue Lagoon and White Birch. Both support expandable storage through microSD cards, and are identical in all other areas.

HTC Desire 526

The HTC Desire 526 has a 4.7-inch qHD (960×540) display with a thicker, 9.9mm body and comes with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD cards of up to 2TB.  It runs on the Snapdragon 210 system chip with the quad-core CPU clocked at 1.1GHz as well. The phone sports an 8MP camera recording at 720p, and a 2MP front camera also capturing 720p film. The HTC Desire 526 is available in premium stealth black and will be a Verizon exclusive.

HTC Desire 520

This is the most affordable phone in the whole series. The Desire 520 features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x 854 pixels) display, the same Snapdragon 210 SoC with the CPU clocked at up to 1.1GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD cards. Similar to the Desire 526, this model too features an 8MP recording at 720p, and a 2MP front camera also capturing 720p film.

HTC said the handsets are made for the United States market and will be offered AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless. It will also be made available in pre-paid form from Boost Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Sprint Prepaid, Tracfone, T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA. The prices of the handsets are yet to be announced.
