Vietnam presently plays hosts to other western fast food chains such as Subway, Starbucks, Burger King, Domino’s Pizza and KFC. The move highlights Vietnam’s hunger for Western consumer brands and the attractions for foreign investors. Despite the Vietnamese economy’s recent slowdown, foreign brands consider Vietnam as one of Asia’s largest consumer with significant untapped potential.

The McDonalds will be run by Prime Minister’s son in law – Henry Nguyen who worked at a McDonald’s restaurant as a teenager in United States where his family fled at the end of the war.
