Online shopping giant Amazon's annual Prime Day will take place on July 12th, the company announced today. Touted as the company’s biggest event ever, the annual global shopping day is bigger than Black Friday and Cyber Monday of last year in terms of TV deals.
But the day is reserved for those consumers who have signed up for its subscription service. The retail behemoth will offer thousands of deals to those who are a member of its $99-a-year subscription service. In 2015, there were hundreds of deals – offered every 10 minutes, and Amazon's annual Prime Day smashed all sales records. Amazon said its second Prime Day will include more than 100,000 deals worldwide for Prime members.
The sale is said to feature three types of deals: Prime Day Spotlight Deals, Amazon Lightning Deals, Prime Savings, and Deals.
According to the company, the Prime Day Spotlight Deals will have leading brands and sought-after products with deep discounts that last until the stock runs out.
The Amazon Lightning Deals are a promotion that lasts for a very little time, just a few hours. Whenever the deal is announced, buyers can see more information on the product page. It will also have a bar indicator displaying the percentage of products other shoppers have and a timer showing the time the user has to add the deal to the cart.
Users can also set a reminder for an upcoming Amazon Lightning Deal by simply adding the push notification in phone’s app. The Amazon Shopping app is necessary to bag the best Amazon Prime Day 2016 deals. To allow deal notifications, users will have to go to notifications in the app and enable the watched & waitlisted deals. The notifications should be allowed to receive information about the availability of a new deal.
The Prime Savings and Deals are promotions that go on all through the day or on Prime Day. When users browse the Prime Day Deals page for Prime Member promotions, they can click the See Details option to check the discount amount. When a product is added to the user’s card, the discount is applied at the checkout page.
Last year, the retail giant was condemned for the hard time buyers faced getting the best Prime Day deals. This year, the company is offering more guidance to Prime Members on how to get the best deals.
Currently, there is no information if the company will provide the schedule of all Prime Day Lightning deals. Earlier, the best Lightning deals were displayed at random, without appearing in the timeline of upcoming deals. Additionally, Amazon had also created a Facebook Event Page for Prime Day. The company will feature on Facebook tips and tricks on getting Prime Day deals.
Those owning an Echo can watch out for special deals only available through Alexa on Prime Day 2016. The online giant is also planning to run countdown deals in the week starting from July 5th, running up to Prime Day. The company is offering a 32-inch TV and bundled Fire TV Stick for $119.99. The best Prime Day 2016 deals will be on TVs. Besides that, the deal will focus more on Toys and Amazon products including the Fire and Kindle line-up.
